The concept of Home without a Name came from a multi-year exploration into ideas around cycles - winking in and out of existence, death & rebirth, and a lifelong, difficult-to-name yearning that quietly defines the sensorial contour of life.

We have worked together on long-term projects before, and are continuously exploring the ways that our individual processes can cross-pollinate and diverge to nourish our shared work. In Home Without a Name, Alexandra draws on personal experiences including several deaths of those close to her and the things she has learned from them. Danielle explores dynamics between creation/grief, imperialism/wildness, microscopic/cosmic, and personal/collective life cycles, weaving them into a non-linear sound work to match the ring shape of Alexandra’s sculpture.

The combination of these two approaches integrate as a body of work that resonates as an expression of both artists’ preoccupations with time-as-ourobourous, cycling around a central “Home” or “whole”. We work together in a way that feels as if correlations and meaning self-organize through our shared process. The making of the art, therefore, has become a practice ground for both of us to work with areas of coincidence- fleeting-yet-tangibly-felt vectors of cohesion, which express as a type of somatic knowing.
